The 1st edition of the Play the Future competition attracted the participation of 22 teams from 10 different nationalities. The enthusiasm and interest on social channels, the official website www.playthefuture.ch and the entertainment platform The Nemesis, Metaverse Partner of the project, demonstrated the broad scope of the event and the involvement of a wide audience interested in architecture and design.

The importance and value that the competition had both locally and internationally, promoting innovation, sustainability and the talent of young architects from around the world, convinced us that this idea, initially conceived by Diego Porzio, the BeSpace Founder, was the right direction to choose.

Last year, we focused on one of Lugano’s symbols: the lake. This year, we are venturing towards another characteristic element as well as part of the city’s history, Monte Brè, taking the night skyline as our starting point, in a daring and exciting challenge: architecture under the stars.

With the second edition of Play the Future we want to actively contribute and offer the citizens and future tourists of Lugano new activities and experiences. The aim is to expand the offer of Monte Brè, as well as to promote sustainability and the enhancement of the landscape, always relying on the creativity of young people, in whom we believe a lot.

We are excited to see how the creativity of young people will celebrate the beauty of the starry night, opening up new perspectives for the architectural world and who knows, for a Lugano of the future, which sees Monte Brè as a resource yet to be fully exploited.
